    The chosen film for the 2014 French Film Project is “Populaire” a 2012 French romantic comedy film set in the 1950s and directed by Régis Roinsard starring renowned French and Belgian actors Romain Duris and Déborah François.

    The French Film Project is a partnership between the French Embassy’s Cultural Service, the Irish Film Institute and the Arts Council, which includes an annual touring of a movie in French language along with the publishing of a free study guide.

  • 2013 International Festival of Audiovisual Programs

    The FIPA (Festival International de Programmes Audiovisuels) is holding its festival of documentary programs from all over the world in Biarritz, South West of France, from the 22nd to the 27th of January 2013. This year, an Irish French speaking student, aged between 15 and 17, will have the opportunity to be part of this unique adventure, and to participate in the whole festival, all included, from January 21st to 27th.

  • The 2011 Pedagogical Study Guide

    The new pedagogical study guide "Panique au village" is now available in Ireland. A "Town Called Panic" is the 2011/2012 addition to the French Film Project led by a partnership between the French Embassy’s Cultural Service, the Irish Film Institute and the Arts Council.
    The study guide is aimed at the TY and Senior Cycle student of French. It includes comprehension exercises, conversation topics and guidelines on using “Panique au village” as a document for the French Leaving Cert oral exam. Distributed to the teachers of French in Ireland, the study guide is also available on the IFI’s website, as well as all the previous versions created for the French language class those last few years.

  • 2010 Film Guide : Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi and Vincent Paronnaud

    The Film Guide has been released every year since 2003 by the Cultural Service of the French Embassy and the Irish Film Institute. It is also supported by the Arts Council. The Guide is a unique class resource for French teachers in Ireland.

    Persepolis was chosen for this 2010 issue. The film is based on the story of Marjane (Marjane Satrapi created the graphic novel which inspired the movie), an eight-year-old girl living in Tehran with her family who dreams of becoming a prophet. Marjane likes punk music and Adidas sneakers, but the 1979 Revolution will shaken up everything.
