  • The 2010 Different Directions Experimental Film Festival

    The 3rd Different Directions Experimental Film Festival will continue to screen the most challenging works of international experimental cinema, with an emphasis on 16mm.

    The focus this year will be on Women Filmmakers whose films have maintained a high level of formal and conceptual experimentation, featuring landmark films by Marguerite Duras, Chantal Akerman, Naomi Kawase, Eve Heller and Agnès Varda as well as the more militant interventions of Carole Roussopoulos and the Zanzibar Group’s Jackie Raynal. The importance of Duras in particular for contemporary artists such as Tacita Dean will be acknowledged through a screening of Dean’s Presentation Sisters.

  • Opening Night of the 2010 French Film Festival

    The opening night of the 2010 French Film Festival took place yesterday evening at the Irish Film Institute in Dublin and was a sold out as every year.

    H.E. Mrs Emmanuelle d’Achon, French Ambassador to Ireland, opened this 11th edition and introduced the Festival to the audience. The French Film Festival is organised by the Cultural Service of the French Embassy in Ireland in partnership with the Irish Film Institute.

  • The 2010 French Film Festival

    The French Embassy in Ireland and the IFI are delighted to announce the 11th French Film Festival, which will take place from 18th to 28th November 2010.

    This year’s programme is offering over twenty Irish premieres, with films from first-time directors and greats such as Tavernier, Godard and Chabrol. The selection of films will range period pieces to documentaries covering troubling topics such as immigration, terrorism, fractured family dynamics and inter-generational conflict.

  • The Corona Cork Film Festival

    The 55th edition of the Corona Cork Film Festival is coming soon !

    From 7th to 14th November 2010, the Festival will offer film lovers a weeklong programme of events which will include big budget films, world cinema, independent films, documentaries and short films from all over the globe.
