  • The 2012 IFI French Film Festival

    The French Embassy in Ireland and the Irish Film Institute are delighted to announce the 13th French Film Festival, which will take place from November 14th to November 25th 2012.
    Juliette Binoche is set to be one of the star attractions at the IFI French Film Festival 2012, which also includes the Irish premiere of Michael Haneke’s Cannes Palme d’Or- winning Love (Amour); winner of the 2012 Jean Prix Vigo, Atomic Age (with Director Héléna Klotz in attendance); and a guest appearance by the iconic actress Béatrice Dalle, who will introduce her new film Bye Bye Blondie, as well as her career-defining French classic Betty Blue.

  • Visual Arts Exhibition: "Whitewashing the Moon"

    "Whitewashing the Moon" is based on a short story by Edward Everett Hale, originally published in 1869. It tells the tale of the men and woman who conceived of the first recorded imagining of a satellite in orbit. This transformative concept is at the centre of "Whitewashing the Moon", in which a garden of sculptures, photographs and other material installations communicate a similar potential for objects. The works of Caroline Achaintre (FR), Jorge De la Garza (MX), Eleanor Duffin (IE), Barbara Knezevic (AU/IE) and Raphaël Zarka (FR) all explore in different ways the transformative potential of objects and ideas.

  • "Souvenir" a creative play on Marcel Proust

    Souvenir is a new play written by Bush Moukarzel. It is a playful and brave examination of Marcel Proust’s “Remembrance of Things Past” in the centenary year of the novel’s publication. This one-man show performed by Bush himself will be presented in The New Theatre as part of ABSOLUT Fringe Festival 2012. Souvenir explores Proust’s views on memory and life by combining the art forms of music, language and magic to enable the audience to absorb and interpret what Proust meant when he said "Better to dream your life than to live it".
