The Carte Noire IFI French Film Festival 
20 November - 1 December 2013
The French Embassy in Ireland and the Irish Film Institute are delighted to announce the 14th French Film Festival, which will take place from 20th November to 1st December 2013 at the IFI.
The 2013 programme brings you the very best of contemporary French cinema and the chance to rediscover the work of some of its great talents. The programme includes 21 Irish premieres and many standout films from this year’s Cannes film festival.
Among the special guests we will welcome Arnaud Desplechin, Emmanuelle Devos, Jérôme BonnellNicolas Philibert. The Irish premieres include films by Bruno Dumont, Abdellatif Kechiche (La Vie d’Adèle, 2013 Canne’s Palme d’or), François Ozon, Xavier Dolan and Claude Lanzmann. The programme also features two retrospectives on Arnaud Desplechin and Abdellatif Kechiche. It also include this year’s Prix Jean Vigo winners, the wonderfully restored Lola (Jacques Demy) and Documenteur (Agnès Varda) and a section dedicated to promising first-time directors.

New Living Art Exhibition IV - "Locked In/Lock Out - Dublin 2013

The New Living Art exhibition is a yearly event showcasing the best of emerging talents in visual and digital arts.
In 2013, curated by Emmanuelle Marion under the theme Locked-In/Locked-Out, it will showcase over 35 artists from Ireland, France, Portugal, Germany, the UK & USA to celebrate the centenary of the 1913 Lock Out and reflect on notions of justice, power and identity.
Among the International Artists attending, Félix Ramon (FR), just graduated from the prestigious Fresnoy school of digital arts in northern Francewill teach masterclasses during the course of the exhibition.
 
With the Support of the French Embassy, the Camoes Institute and the Goethe Institut.

An exhibition that highlights interaction between Art, Science and Literature!
Realised by Inserm, the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research, this exhibition is part of the events organised for “Science Week” and “Library Ireland Week” 2013

The Junior Galway Film Fleadh 

13 - 16 November2013
The Junior Galway Film Fleadh French Film this year is “Untouchable” (Intouchables) based on a true story and directed by Olivier Nakache and Eric Toledano. This movie has also been chosen by the Irish Film Institute and the Cultural Service for the new pedagogical film guide. It is one of the most successful French films, in cinemas of all time. 

This film will be introduced by the Education Officer from the IFI.
Study Notes will be available on the day.

PhotoIreland presents the third edition of 'Après Paris', a night dedicated to contemporary Photography with a special focus on Paris’ photographic events during November: Paris Photo, Nofound Photofair, Photo Off, Photo Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Offprint Paris, Kiosk, Jeu de Paume, and more.
 
The highlight of the night will be a special guest speaker from France to be announced shortly online at photoireland.org.

Cork: "1689 - 2013, The Irish and France: Three Centuries of Military Relations"

After its showing at the National Museum in Dublin and Castelbar, the French Embassy in Ireland is delighted to present  "1689 - 2013, The Irish France: Three Centuries of military relations" in Cork at the Military Museum, Collins Barracks.

This exhibition is produced by the Musée de l’Armée (Army Museum, Paris) and shows Irish and French military cooperation since the 17th century.

Teaching Assistant in France 2014/2015 

Deadline: 3 February 2014
This scheme is aimed at students who are aged between 20 and 35, who have completed at least two years of higher education in modern languages by the time they take up their post and who have a working knowledge of the French language. All eligible students will be entitled to a stipend.

The assistantship is a unique opportunity and a valuable life experience. As well as improving their language skills and confidence in speaking, gaining in-depth knowledge of French life and culture, a year abroad can also boost student future employability.

The Institut Français, France’s International Agency for Cultural Policy affiliated to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, offers IFCINEMA, an Internet portal that enables to download films to organise NON-commercial film clubs easily across the nation (Universities, Cultural Centres, Associations,  Schools,…).
 
This exclusive service is free and allow access to movies in the most diverse areas, with or without ADSL and presents a varied selection French film and World cinema, thematic cycles and additional bonus such as video, photos, articles, and educational kits.

This platform is now also available to teachers.
