French Film Festival: yes we Cannes!

The French Embassy in Ireland and the Irish Film Institute are delighted to announce the 15th Carte Noire IFI French Film Festival, which takes place from 19th to 30th November 2014 at the IFI.

The Festival brings you the very best of contemporary French cinema and the chance to rediscover the work of some of its great talents. The programme includes 20 Irish premieres and many standout films from this year’s Cannes film festival.

Among the special guests we will welcome Mathieu Amalric, Antoine de Baecque, Pascale Ferran, Assa Sylla, Laurent Lafitte and Cécile Télerman.

The Irish premieres include films by Jean-Luc Godard (Goodbye to Language), Bruno Dumont, Mathieu Amalric, and Abderrahmane Sissako. Also featuring in the programe The Kidnapping of Michel Houellebecq, and Li’l Quinquin originally created for TV but with their home in the cinema, and comedies as Elle l’adore; If You Don’t, I Will; Paris Follies and The Yellow Eyes of the Crocodiles.

The Festival also presents a section dedicated to emerging directors (Prix Jean Vigo winners), a French New Wave Programme with Antoine de Baecque, a Focus on Pascale Ferran (masterclass) and a tribute to Alain Resnais and the Marguerite Duras Centenary.
