"How to elect more women ?" [fr]

Mrs Nicole Ameline, Deputy for Calvados and Vice-Chairperson of CEDAW (UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women) came to Ireland on Friday 20 January 2012 to take part in a conference in Dublin Castle on "How to elect more women ?".

On this occasion, Mrs Ameline met with the Taoiseach Enda Kenny and shared her experience as a woman politician with representatives of the media and civil society. This Conference represented an opportunity for an open dialogue with international and national experts including academics, politicians, political activists, party administrators and party leaders about the steps that need to be taken to ensure that women are more equally represented in Irish political life in the future. Currently, only 15% of Daíl Deputies are women.
