Jochen Gerz, who lived in Paris from 1966 to 2007 and now based in Ireland, is one of the best-known German conceptual artists.
This two-day conference will examine works by the exceptional artist Jochen Gerz - creator of transformative public artwork spanning 50 years in Germany, France, England, Italy and Ireland - and look at how contemporary artists in Ireland and beyond might address the contested and often controversial context of commemoration.
