It’s hard to know what to say at such a time. Many of us can’t make it to the Embassy with other commitments that seem irrelevant right now but remain mandatory for the world while a city which has a special place in many hearts, continues to mourn for an atrocious attack and loss of life amongst them.

The world stands with Paris right now, we mourn your loss too and will forever stand against the perpetrators. Ireland not only loves your city but admires your resilience and
we share our sympathies with you. I, myself have never been to Paris but I have studied French, i’ve studied the culture and have heard many wonderful stories from family and friends from their trips to the city.
Be not afraid and not let fear force you mute, as the world is with you, Paris.

Love,

Mes amis,

It is hard to understand how I find myself writing these words again within one year. I cannot express how sorry I am that you have once again experienced this sadness.
Having lived in France, it has always felt like a second home to me.
I know that the French will continue to stand tall, regardless of this brutality. Until Friday afternoon one of my long-term goals was to return to Paris to work, drink coffee in the 6th arrondissement, and read Liberation over breakfast. On Saturday morning that dream had not changed.
We will continue to stand beside you - now and in the future.

Vive La Republique

...

On behalf of our community in Ireland I would like to express my deepest condolences to the people and government of France. We condemn these barbaric acts in the strongest way possible. These acts of terror aim to divide the communities, what we have to do is show solidarity and that we are together.

With these few words, I would like to relay the message of our worldwide Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, the Fifth Khalifa (Caliph), His Holiness, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, who condemns the Paris attacks and prays for victims:

“On behalf of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community worldwide, I express my heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the French nation, its people and government following the heinous terrorist attacks that have taken place in Paris. This brutal and inhumane attack can only be condemned in the strongest possible terms.

I would also like to reiterate that all forms of terrorism and extremism are completely against the true teachings of Islam. The Holy Quran has said that to kill even one innocent person is akin to killing all of mankind. Thus under no circumstances can murder ever be justified and those who seek to justify their hateful acts in the name of Islam are serving only to defame it in the worst possible way.

Our sympathies and prayers are with the victims of these attacks and all those who have been left bereaved or affected in any way. May God Almighty grant patience to them all and I hope and pray that the perpetrators of this evil act are swiftly brought to justice.”

...

My sincere condolences and prayers go out to those bereaved families whose members have been so brutally and senselessly murdered. Also, thinking of those injured and maimed. May they have a safe and speedy recovery. God help and preserve them all. Vive La France.

Heartfelt condolences to everyone. Please take comfort in knowing our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time of great sadness and grief. ...

Excellency and staff, I cannot adaquately express my sorrow at the mindless and senseless taking of young lives in Paris. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time. My wife and I were absolutely shocked yesterday evening when we heard what had happened in Paris.

We immediately said the Rosary for those murdered and their families as we know how the families feel having suffered that ourselves during the troubles here in Northern Ireland.

At Mass this morning Prayers were said for all those murdered, injured, their families and the French people in general who all are our sisters and brothers.

The vacuity of rage and violence
bares an overflowing of unity and grief;
lives senselessly snuffed out by violence
demand clear words and deep remembrance,
a justice fueled by love and a love fueled by justice.

Easy answers elude us; questions of why repeat
but hope and dialogue must endure
in the name of the victims
and in the core of a city
beloved by the world.

There can be no words to describe the shock and the pain that Paris and the whole of France are going through at this time. But you are not alone, the world mourns with you in the wake of these destructive events. We stand strongly beside you in support and compassion. We are rooted together against these repugnant acts and all forms of terrorism and extremism. United we are strong. My thoughts and prayers go out to those who are injured, to those who have lost loved ones and anyone affected in anyway by these atrocities. The nation of Ireland stands with you at this devastating time. I read a quote today, from Warsan Shire, and for me it accurately shows the pain felt across the world for France today:

“Later that night
I held an atlas in my lap
ran my fingers across the whole world
and whispered
- where does it hurt?

It answered,
- everywhere
everywhere
everywhere.”

We stand with you France, and we will not leave your side. Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité.

Nothing so beautiful as this Paris of mine"

Louis Aragon, Paris, 1944

I have just been listening to Ambassador Thebault talking on Newstalk about the atrocity that occurred in Paris last night.

For what it’s worth, I want to add my voice as an Irish national to express total solidarity with the French people. As Ambassador Thebault said, the only way to combat this psychopathic behaviour is to support the security forces of our countries and become a united force in standing against those who would attack our basic human rights. (...)

My sincere condolences.

...

I wish to offer my deepest, heartfelt sympathy to Your Excellency and to the people of Paris and France following the attacks on your country last night.

I have been to Paris only once, but like many, many people I fell in love with the most beautiful, cultured and delightful city. To have the streets of Paris splattered with the blood of so many innocents is a most heinous crime. (...)

Sir, please know that here in Ireland there is a nation which is thinking and praying for France and the French people.

Vive la France.
