The political chancellery’s prime mission is to assist the Ambassador in his/her various tasks as France’s representative, and to implement French foreign policy, explaining our country’s position on all significant international issues to, among others, the Irish authorities.

Moreover, as is tradition in the political division of an Embassy, it acts as a monitoring centre for the domestic situation (political, economic and social) and for Ireland’s international position.

Finally, the chancellery contributes to promoting friendly relations between France and Ireland in setting up visits between key French figures (from the government or elsewhere) and facilitating exchange of views between officials from both countries.
