Paris, 11 February 2015
The French President is delighted with the new success achieved by those involved in Europe’s space programme.
The success of the IXV mission marks the first time Europe has achieved a controlled atmospheric re-entry.
This further strengthens Europe’s technological capabilities in space.
The President congratulates the teams from the European Space Agency, the CNES [French Space Agency], Arianespace and the European manufacturers concerned on this success.
He wants to pay special tribute to the teams from the Italian Space Agency and Italian industry, who played a very active role on the IXV and the Vega launcher, which successfully carried out its fourth launch from the Guiana Space Centre for this mission.
