Senator Hélène Conway Mouret visits Dublin
This week the French Embassy in Ireland received the visit of the Senator with responsibility for French abroad, Hélène Conway Mouret. Here to encourage the French to vote in the Consular elections this Sunday, 25th May, the Senator met with many French people established in Ireland.
The Senator first visited the Eurocampus where she met and spoke with students, their parents and the teaching staff. Familiar with the education system in Ireland thanks to her experience as the Director of the Language Department at the Dublin Institute of Technology, the Senator spoke at length with the students of the Eurocampus at Clonskeagh. She also met with the school’s football team who will be representing the school at the French Establishments Abroad Football World Cup organised in Brasilia, Brazil by the Agency for the Teaching of French Abroad. The Senator and the Ambassador of France to Ireland were keen to wish the Eurocampus team the very best of luck!

Mr. Moore, history teacher at the EuroCampus, then presented Mrs Conway Mouret with a research project carried out by his students on the Commemoration of the Great War 1914-1918. Subsequently, two students from the European section had also realised an important genealogical research project on the role of their great grand-parents during the war.

The Senator also participated in a working breakfast with members of the France-Ireland Chamber of Commerce; an occasion for the Senator and the Ambassador to promote France’s economic assets to the company directors and investors present.
The visit ended with a round table organised at the International Institute of the European Affairs (IIEA, Great George’s Street, Dublin 1) where Mrs Conway Mouret was able to discuss the upcoming French Consular elections, to be held this Sunday, 25th May in Ireland, with the IIEA members and journalists present. The European elections, the importance of the French language and the teaching of French in Ireland was also discussed at the round table.
