The 2013 Carte Noire IFI French Film Festival
The French Embassy in Ireland and the Irish Film Institute are delighted to announce the 14th French Film Festival, which will take place from 20th November to 1st December 2013 at the IFI.
The 2013 programme brings you the very best of contemporary French cinema and the chance to rediscover the work of some of its great talents. The programme includes 21 Irish premieres and many standout films from this year’s Cannes film festival.
Among the special guests we will welcome director Arnaud Desplechin for the Festival screening of his latest work Jimmy P. (Psychotherapy of a Plains Indian). Desplechin will participate in a series of Q&A and run a masterclass (November 22). Desplechin will also be the focus of a special season which runs throughout the month at the IFI. Actress Emmanuelle Devos will also be in attendance with director Jérôme Bonnell. In addition, Nicolas Philibert will present the compelling documentary La Maison de la Radio.
The Irish premieres include films by Bruno Dumont, Abdellatif Kechiche (La Vie d’Adèle, 2013 Canne’s Palme d’or), François Ozon, Xavier Dolan and Claude Lanzmann. Inventive comedies and dramas will be featuring: Me, Myself and Mum; 2 Winters, 3 Autumns; Going Away and a superb Catherine Deneuve in On My Way.
The programme also include this year’s Prix Jean Vigo winners, and the wonderfully restored Lola (Jacques Demy) and Documenteur (Agnès Varda). The brilliant Grand Central will be the closing film of the Festival.
