University and Academic Cooperation

JPEG On the one hand, the Cultural and Scientific Service of the French Embassy promotes and develops agreements between French and Irish higher education institutions (Erasmus+ agreements, PhDs joint supervision, joint and double degrees) and on the other hand advises students on trainings, grants and higher education in France. In February 2013, a Campus France office was launched, with the aim of promotinf French higher education in Ireland, international mobility and give guidance to students wishing to study in France.

With more than 70 universities, 50 business schools, 200 engineering schools, 20 schools of Arts, French higher education, one of the best in the world, offers a large range of courses to students. France has a large number of international research centres. Tuitions fees for universities are very low (184€/year for a Bachelor, 256€ /year for a Master, 391€/year for a Phd) whatever the student’s nationality. The French “art de vivre” offers a good quality of living and studying for students in France. For the 2012-2013 academic year, 596 Irish students were registred in the French higher education institutions, making France the first hosting country of Irish students (excluding English-speaking countries).
